Bedding holds significant importance in a vacation home, and some might even view it as the most important detail when looking for a rental property. When your guests slip into their bed with crisp, cozy linens at the end of a long day, the relaxation and comfort they feel can directly translate to positive reviews and repeat bookings. Supplying quality sheets and bedding not only offers a more luxurious and comfortable experience for your guests, it also demonstrates your commitment to providing a memorable stay. Based on our stays in short-term rentals, as well as our previous interior design projects, we have curated a list of some of the best bedding options we've encountered. Bedding in vacation home rentals should always be white or cream, with one exception: a printed sheet for a child's bedroom or bunk room.

Target offers two options we like; the Tencel Lyocell (shown above), and the Threshold Sheet Set. The Tencel Lyocell is not as silky as most Tencels tend to be, but it has a lived-in casual feeling that feels so good on the skin. Out of the package it already feels buttery soft, like it has gone through the wash 100 times. Target's Threshold Sheet Set comes in a sour cream and white, and is offered in a Twin XL option that can often be difficult to find in a store. We like the fact that these sheet sets are cost effective, but also if we need to run to a store out of state and switch out bedding due to wear & tear from renters, we can usually find a Target nearby!

There is a lot we love about Boll and Branch, which we will unpack, but first; the one con is they do come with a higher price tag. We still wanted to include it for vacation home rentals because high quality sheets are truly more durable, can withstand frequent washing, and can provide a better sleeping experience for your guests. While the cost may be higher for you as a host, these items can significantly impact the overall stay experience. We do also feel that if you are a luxury vacation home listing, you should have luxurious bedding. If the vacation home rental is also your own private vacation home, splurging on great bedding is an absolute must. If you are a middle of the road rental, we would consider using these in the primary bedrooms but going with something a little more cost effective in the kids rooms/bunk rooms. We love the Boll and Branch sheet sets as well as their duvet covers. They are crisp and thick enough to have that hotel feeling, but soft and airy enough to feel like home. It all comes in the most beautiful packaging too! What we love most though about this privately owned company is what they stand for. They wanted to do things differently. They are passionate about creating a 100% organic cotton, toxin free, sustainable product. They care about the impacts on the environment, their artisans, and the welfare of their farmers and employees. Read their Impact Report for more information on how they operate their company.

Cozy Earth is another one that comes with a higher price tag but we feel the price is worth it. This sheet set was on Oprah's Most Favorite Things list... and for good reason. This Viscose Bamboo sheet is incredibly soft and lightweight, and is a moisture wicking material. Perfect for tropical destinations and preferred by hot sleepers. This sheet continues to get softer with every wash. Though the price tag is a little higher, they do offer a lot of sales and discount codes.

We love West Elm's European Flax Linen Duvet cover, specifically the natural flax color that looks amazing in a modern mountain home, or the white linen for a coastal home. This look is a casual, laid back vibe...one that beckons you to climb in, get cozy, and relax.

We have searched the world wide for the best down comforter with a reasonable price tag and we think we found it! The Hotel Grand White Down at Costco!! While sourcing for our clients we have purchased every retailer's down comforter, and while many of them are not bad options, we wanted to find the plushest 100% Down AND the most cost effective. We happened across the Hotel Grand White Down after it was mentioned in another blog as being the number one down comforter, and let us tell you, it did not disappoint! We have purchased this down comforter for numerous projects now, and it has always been one of everyone's favorites.
Finally, a few other notable tips! It's important to always have at least two sets of each sheet per bed. We recommend sheet label bands to keep everything organized. Try to choose hypoallergenic materials that deter mold, dust mites and other allergens. Lastly, as we noted earlier, we love a neutral color palette like white or cream that gives that inviting feeling of comfort and hospitality for a more memorable stay.
